
Lake Ray is an eighth-generation Floridian, born and raised in Jacksonville. He has always been a leader, first as an Eagle Scout, then as a civil engineer, and as an elected official. He was first elected to the Jacksonville City Council in 1999 and served until 2007.
Lake then went on to win a three-way Republican primary in 2008 and served in the Florida House of Representatives until he was term limited in 2016.
He was named President of First Coast Manufacturers Association (FCMA) in 2011. In this role, as well as in his public service, he has advocated for the growth and economic success of the manufacturing industry. Lake is also passionate about transportation, infrastructure, economic development, and technology.
Throughout his time in elected office, he has always had a full-time-job to support his family. At one point he employed over 50 people and was responsible for projects in excess of $500 million.
Lake has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Florida and worked as a civil engineer and small business owner for 30 years. He and his wife, Brenda, have three sons and five grandchildren.
